Trips/Residentials 2026/27
At Riverview, we believe that learning extends beyond the classroom. School trips and workshops are an essential part of the educational experience, offering the children an opportunity to engage in learning outside the classroom. They are invaluable for broadening pupils' horizons, increasing their understanding of topics and building on social development. These experiences have been carefully planned to enhance what your child is learning in school and provide unique, hands-on opportunities that support their development and cannot be replicated in the classroom.
Each year group will participate in a number of trips, visitor experiences or workshops annually. These experiences are designed to support the curriculum and give pupils the chance to explore and learn in different environments. We work hard to keep the cost of these experiences as affordable as possible. Wherever practical, we will use public transport (including bus, train or tube) for these visits, which helps to reduce travel costs.
The total cost for each child will be £30 - this amount will cover all trips, visitors and workshops for the academic year. Some experiences may cost slightly more, some slightly less, therefore allowing us to balance the overall cost across the year. This payment is now available on ParentMail. Please note this amount does not include swimming nor our biennial residential visit for Years 5 and 6.
Examples of some our recent trips/experiences include:
- Science Museum
- Guildford Cathedral
- Hobbledown
- The Paradox Museum
- Beach visits
- Wild science animal workshop
These visits were specifically chosen to enrich pupils’ understanding of history, science, geography and culture, helping to connect classroom learning with real-world experiences. They are linked to each year's curriculum to build knowledge and skills, ensuring pupils get the most out of each experience. Learning from these is embedded into classroom activities, helping pupils to build on the experiences and retain what they have learnt.
We ask families for voluntary contributions towards the cost of these educational trips to help us continue to provide a rich programme of experience for all. Our approach is:
- Ideally, we ask families to contribute 100% of the cost of the trips.
- We understand that this may not always be possible, so contributions of 50%, 75%, or any amount are welcomed.
- If we are unable to raise sufficient funds, we reserve the right to cancel trips, as we cannot cover large shortfalls from the school budget. We never make the decision to cancel these lightly and understand how disappointing this is for the children.
- Families who wish to 'pay it forward' by contributing more than the requested amount are warmly welcomed. These additional contributions can help ensure that other pupils are able to benefit from these valuable experiences too.
Riverview is committed to ensuring that learning is exciting, memorable and meaningful. By combining strong teaching with rich experiences outside the classroom, we aim to inspire every child to discover their potential and unlock their future.
Thank you for your support.
