WELCOME TO PEARL CLASS

At Riverview Nursery, we pride ourselves on our commitment to a child-centred curriculum. This follows every individual child’s interests and inspires them to learn. Learning through play forms the basis for our children to become independent and active learners.

We are a passionate team, led by a highly skilled teacher.  Together, we provide a stimulating and secure environment. Children can explore, investigate, reflect and try out new things with confidence.

We believe that children learn by leading their own play. Play is essential for children’s development.  Adults observe and see a ‘teachable moment’; next steps are identified and are carried out immediately. Our skilled staff teach this way because high level involvement occurs most often when children are able to pursue their own interests and challenge their thinking.

Throughout a session, there is a balance of adult and child-led learning. Adult-led learning has planned objectives and can be with the whole class or with a small focus group. In this way, we teach reading, number skills and phonics every day.

Our ‘workshop learning environment’ allows children to access both the indoor and outdoor areas. Children select from a range of open-ended resources which develop key learning skills necessary for their next stage of learning.

A limited number of 30-hour funded places are available. Please call the School Office if you are interested.

NURSERY (PEARL) CLASS

Pearl Class have continued to look at the number 3 by sorting shapes that represent 3. We noticed that all the shapes we sorted were triangles because they have three corners and three sides. We have also begun to look at the number 4 and some of us have been combining numbers together and have found that they create a larger number.

We have also been working on forming the letters in our names. We are improving with every try!
